A/Prof Mark Fear
Mark Fear graduated from Oxford University in 1996, subsequently working at Northwestern University, Chicago on hematopoiesis before completing his PhD (Royal London Hospital, University of London) in the field of skin and skin cancers in 2003. Since 2007 he has worked with Professor Fiona Wood on burn injury, scarring and fibrosis. Since 2006 he has published over 60 research publications and been awarded over $6 million in research funding. His current research is focused on understanding the molecular and cellular pathogenesis of scarring and fibrotic disease, including keloid and Dupuytren’s disease. He is also interested in the development of novel therapies targeting fibrosis and the long-term systemic impacts of burn injury on the immune system.
